What's Happening To My YouTube Channel?

Hey there, it's me Mike!

As I am sure you probably have noticed, I haven't posted anything on YouTube for a very long time. So in this post, I just want to explain what is going on with my YouTube Channel.

For quite a while I just haven't been happy with my Main YouTube Channel. It's not that I didn't enjoy making videos because I did, but I just couldn't find the motivation to film, I wasn't sure what style of videos to make and I had basically no ideas - a very bad combination.

Last month I decided to remove all the videos from my Main Channel while I decided what I wanted to do. This is not a decision I made overnight, I've been thinking about this for a while and I finally decided that I am going to scrap my Main Channel "MikeVlogsYT"! However, that still leaves my Vlogging Channel "MikeVlogsYT Extra"... So what's going to happen with that? Well, I definitely don't want to quit YouTube - and I want to make that very clear! I am keeping my Vlogging Channel. Vlogs have always been my favorite videos to film, so it only makes sense I continue with that as it's something I love. It's like an online diary of my life that allows me to relive that day.

Over the next few days, I am going to rename the channel from "MikeVlogsYT Extra" to just "MikeVlogsYT" like the channel it's replacing (the other channel will no longer be in use).

Now, I'm going to be honest with you, I can't guarantee when my next vlog is going to be up. I only vlog the interesting days of my life like holidays, events or an action packed day. So it could still be a few months before I upload something new. But I just wanted to let you know what is happening with my YouTube Channel and that I'm definitely not quitting.

I understand this change might not be for everyone, but for me, YouTube is about doing what I enjoy.

Things I Want To Achieve in 2018!

Happy New Year everyone! 🎉

It's officially 2018, so to start off the year I want to set some goals. There will be a mixture of 'online' goals (like my YouTube & Blog), and personal life goals.

Continue With My YouTube & Blog
Last year I kinda stopped making videos. It's not that I didn't want to make content, it was more a combination of work, personal issues, and no free time alone / no spare time prevented me. This year I really want to focus on making good content. I'm still not going to have a schedule for now, but ideally, I would like to make regular content. I would also like to try some different videos, like collaborations (I already have a couple planned), and continue making more vlogs on my Second Channel.

Tell My Family About my YouTube & Blog 
This was actually on last years list, however, as I explained in my previous goal, I stopped uploading on my channel so it didn't really make sense for me to tell them. But it's kinda weird how it's been over 2 years and I still haven't told my family about my Channel & Blog. I want to change that. I don't really know whats holding me back, as I'm sure they'd be totally fine with it.

Go To The Gym
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be someone who goes to the gym every day, with massive muscles like the hulk. I just want to go once or twice a week to improve health, tone up, and just feel better about myself.

Go On Walks
This one really is as simple as it sounds. I just want to go on random walks. Again, just once or twice a week I just want to go on random little walks around my village / the beach / the woods / anywhere really. It's partly good for your physical health, but also your mind. I kinda feel like the British terrible weather might put me off this one though 😂.

Spend 'A Little' Less Time Online
Now I know this goal kinda contradicts the first goal of focusing on YouTube which is online but I have noticed I am on my phone just pointlessly flicking through social media apps which I closed just 30 seconds ago. Nothing has happened in that 30 seconds. I could spend less time looking through Instagram & Twitter and go on that walk (one of my other goals) instead, and occasionally maybe just take a week or a couple days off online social media every once in a while as a refresh. I don't mean I want to quit being online, I just think it's important to have some time offline and focus on the real world around you occasionally too.

Continue Getting Help For My Anxiety
If you read my last blog post, you would have seen that I achieved one of the biggest goals on my list - Getting help for my anxiety. I can 100% say I got help and achieved that goal. However, it's not an overnight fix, I need to continue having therapy sessions and working on it. This goal is an ongoing continuation, it doesn't really have an end.

2018 is the year I want to focus on me, and getting a good mindset. 2017 did have some of my best moments, but also some of my darkest. And I think things like, going to the gym, going on walks, spending less time on social media and going out with friends more, will help a lot. So whilst saying 'new year, new me' sounds very cliche, in a way it's kinda true.

My 2017 Goals - Did I Achieve Them?

It's nearly the end of 2017, so it's time to look back on my 2017 goals... Did I achieve them?

Tell My Family About My Blog & Channel
F A I L 
I didn't tell my family about my channel, but to be fair I did kinda stop uploading videos for a while so there wasn't much point in telling anyone. However, I am starting videos again in the new year. If you're new to my blog, maybe check out my channel?

Reach 500 YouTube Subscribers
As mentioned in my previous one, I stopped uploading videos, so its no surprise I didn't reach this goal. But to be honest, numbers have never been the main focus for me. The good news is I did still make some progress though, so whilst I didn't reach 500, I did grow, so not a complete fail.

Do More Vlogs
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not anything close to a daily vlogger, but I did do a couple of vlogs this year. I vlogged one of the best days of my life... Seeing Adele At Wembley Stadium, and I was lucky enough to get invited to an event. Vlogging is something I really enjoy, and I'm definitely going to make more.

Make A Collab Video
A N O T H E R  F A I L :(
Sadly another fail. Like mentioned in previous ones, I stopped making videos. However, I have got a collab or two planned for next year which is exciting.

Get Help For My Anxiety
B I G  F A T  T I C K ✔ 
This was the most important goal on the list, and without a doubt I have definitely achieved. I am happy to say I finally got help for my anxiety. I don't really want to discuss the details but I have had some (and currently waiting for more) therapy sessions. And I will definitely be continuing working on this, as I am fully aware it is not an overnight fix.
